[Oberst’s] intensity was at an all time high while singing “Landlocked Blues” and towards the end of the song there is the line, “So I’m making a deal with the devils of fame, saying, ‘Let me walk away, please.” He once again changed up his lyrics and instead of spewing out what he initially wrote, he sang with force, “So I’m making a deal with the devils of fame saying, ‘Show me the money! Show me the money!”

Comedic would not be a word I’d used to describe this performance. Intense, passionate, yes, but also angry and possibly contemptuous. But if Conor Oberst was trying to be funny I just don’t get his sense of humor.
